Aye Wanda: AI tutoring as human augmentation

ListenToSee, Inc. · flagship product

Developed with research from synED, the nonprofit Scott Young founded and leads.

An adult learner explores a geometry problem with an interactive tutor on a laptop in a bright library alcove.

Context

Fifteen years of consulting with California's community colleges and workforce programs taught us what tutoring actually is: not a model answering questions, but guidance, context, tools, and orchestration working together around a learner. The arrival of capable language models made it possible to build that — if it was built as augmentation for people rather than a substitute for them.

Engagement

Aye Wanda is our own product. We designed the core tutoring engine, the abstraction layers that let an organization adopt a custom implementation on its curriculum, and the consumer front door, drawing on synED's research into domain expertise, the economics of model-based technology, and human-AI collaboration.

What we delivered

  • A live platform at ayewanda.com with three doors: the Academy (certification and interview preparation), the Orbital Lab (open exploration), and Cypherwild (mathematics).
  • A core tutoring engine in which the model is one component among teaching guidance, learning context, tools, and orchestration.
  • Abstraction layers for institutional and corporate implementations on their own subject matter.
  • Low-cost tutoring for learners who need general curriculum support.

Outcome

The platform is live and in use, and it is the demonstration we point every client to: the correct way to implement AI is as a human augmentation tool. Cost cutting is the road to disaster; human augmentation is the road to global abundance.
